A Cappella Weekend with Deke Sharon

9 Mar 2026
Such a coup and a privilege to welcome the incomparable Deke Sharon from San Francisco to Suffolk for such a fabulous weekend.

Deke is a true pioneer of contemporary a cappella, from creating college ensembles to arranging over 2,000 songs – including, famously, for Universal’s Pitch Perfect film franchise – and popularising a cappella around the world, including with Gareth Malone and Kelis on the BBC’s Pitch Battle series.

Saturday saw Deke at Ipswich’s grand St Joseph’s College Chapel exploring its origins and global history, before teaching improvisation and vocal soundscapes. Sunday was an altogether different affair in Woodbridge, comprising a Pitch Perfect singalong and finishing off with Q&A & private screening of the film itself.

A joy to behold – spreading harmony through harmony.
